About Pawikan
- Overview
Pawikan is designed to handle and ease up network management of large networks. As the network becomes complex and more and more devices and nodes are being added, it becomes difficult to manage a large and scattered network. Pawikan is aimed at making network management easier for complex networks. It has been designed to run in *BSD/Linux operating system, but would work in any other operating system provided the dependencies also work in that target operating system. The Pawikan does not contain its own data collector but instead it uses the readily available open-source tool called Cricket a very powerful and easy to use SNMP data collector system together with Round Robin Database(RRD). Pawikan uses this already available data collector system and focused more on developing underlying core systems and tools such as network discovery, granular traffic database, automatic collector configuration, among others which really makes network management easier. When used together with add-on GUIs such as NetCartographer, the Pawikan back-end becomes a very easy to visualize and understand.
